About the artist:
Catalina Pardo graduated from Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia,
with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts and an emphasis in fine arts.
After finishing her studies, she traveled to Berlin for five months and took
part in TAKT, an art space and residency that exhibited her work. After that
experience, Pardo returned to Bogotá, where she currently resides. In 2022,
Catalina spent a few months in New York City and attended a painting and
drawing course at the Art Student League.
“I want to recreate the experience of how I feel standing and being confused in this world.” Among reflections,
poems, and experiments, Catalina searches for ways to express her ideas.
“The painting showed me essential points for materializing my perception of the world. The repetition of visual
patterns in my work has been a tool for constructing a way of fragmentation. Through the reiteration of colors
and symbols, I have tried to build fragmented spaces. ”
Catalina is inspired by sensations and their dialogue with the body, time, and space. She perceives her
practice as a process of self-recognition, inquiring about the restlessness of being and the meaning of
